Europe used PAL, so if the player is PAL, you'll need a capture/tuner that supports that. ![]() The USA used NTSC format, so you need a device that supports that. You'll need to get a tuner/capture device that supports the output from your VHS player. Very Important: The type of VHS output is different around the world due to different standards. The V4L2 list of compatible devices is where I'd start. The main thing is that you want one that is plug-n-play supported by Linux. I have a Haupauge 950Q device, but it is really old and I think they make newer models. ![]() If you are cheaper and have a working VHS player still, you can use most USB-TV-Tuner devices to record anything through the "yellow cable" output from the VHS machine. That would be the easiest, self-service, method.
